A ride along the newly opened Wye Valley Greenway cycle path. Starting just outside Chepstow taking a five miles stretch along mostly hardened gravel surfaces and some hard mud trails of a disused railway line including the beautiful 1km long Tidenham Tunnel.
The tunnel is occupied by bats and for that reason cycle lights and torches are not used but dim lighting is provided along one side of the tunnel wall - just enough light to see the silhouette of other people using the tunnel.
The ride ends in the village of Tintern crossing the old tramway bridge over the River Wye. This is a great route for anyone looking for a pleasant and fairly easy ride into some beautiful scenery that crosses the border between England and Wales. Cycle hire is also available not far from the southern entrance of the Tidenham Tunnel.
