Wandering Bayeux in Normandy, France

Описание: 🔊🎶 #Bayeux is another town in Normandy at the crossroads of England and #France, famous for its tapestry—224 ft long and over 1000 years old—which tells the tale of English king William the Conqueror, aka the Duke of Normandy, in crudely-drawn, embroidered panels. In layperson’s terms, it’s a long, continuous medieval comic strip. As a surviving document of history, it’s on the #UNESCO list, and it’s what brought me to the town (at suggestion of @allmychandler), even though no photos or video are allowed. (I got by with shots of replicated panels from items in the gift shop.)Aside from the tapestry, Bayeux was a pleasant town to spend an afternoon and evening, with a grand cathedral and small streets to wander near the Aure River, where I saw a kid kept the tradition of fishing alive. The Normandy mash-up of England and France was evident in a concert I stumbled upon at the cathedral, with bagpipes of the British Isles and French horns.
