Lauran Sallan, from the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, presented "Mapping out the biodiversity of fishes from the earliest fossils to modern-day Okinawa" at the 2024 FishBase and SeaLifeBase Symposium.

Day 2 was titled Fishes in Mare Nostrum and other areas, with the afternoon session focusing on celebrating 20 years of Aristotle University in FishBase.
The 2024 FishBase and SeaLifeBase Symposium took place on September 2-3, 2024, at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
