Maarten Van Steenberge, from Belgium's Institute of Natural Sciences, presented "The changing ecosystem of East Africa’s Mare Nostrum: Using ichthyology collections to identify the changes in the Lake Victoria region" at the 2024 FishBase and SeaLifeBase Symposium.

Day 2 was titled Fishes in Mare Nostrum and other areas, with the afternoon session focusing on celebrating 20 years of Aristotle University in FishBase.
The 2024 FishBase and SeaLifeBase Symposium took place on September 2-3, 2024, at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
