Volcán Acatenango is a 3,976-meter (13,045 ft) stratovolcano in Guatemala near Antigua, one of the main reasons I went on this trip. I was determined to do this hike 1 year after having heart surgery.
In this video I leave behind the town of Antigua and venture up an active volcano. This over night hike demands a strong mindset to hike.
Climbing higher than I have ever previously climbed, seeing the eruptions at the summit made it all worth it.
With every hike I am starting to see that I can do much more than I could before my surgery. This was a very cool moment to me.
