Genesis 5 may look like a simple genealogy, but if you read it slowly, you’ll hear something powerful: a rhythm.
“He lived… and he died.”
Over and over, the phrase repeats — reminding us that Genesis 3 was not symbolic. The fall was real. Death entered the story.
But in the middle of that rhythm, one life breaks the pattern: Enoch walked with God.
Even in a world under the curse, intimacy with God is still possible. Even when death repeats, faith still stands. Genesis 5 reminds us that while mortality is universal, hope is preserved. God is quietly carrying forward His promise.
In a chapter filled with “and he died,” we find a better phrase — “walked with God.”
And that changes everything.
