ThunderWolf Pursuit: continuous hour of trackriding practice for TMGP endurance: KTM 65sx

Описание: We came out and practiced today. Actually it was less practice and more just sorting bikes out to figure out what’s gonna work for the first race. The Thunder Wolf team is going to be riding the KTM. I will be on a different team, the Mach .05 team. We will be riding a Benelli again this year. In this session, I started out on the Benelli. We will use it if it rains on Saturday. So I did get some practice time in. I anticipate using this bike it will be under wet conditions but on rain tires. If not we’ll use Cole’s Benelli with a dry setup.

There weren’t any karts at the track today, so we had enough track time to do some serious endurance sessions. I think the shortest amount of time I rode was 30 minutes. This session here was actually done on two different bikes. I swapped after 30 minutes from the Benelli to the Kayo 125 mini GP bike. The Kayo smokes like it’s sponsored by Marlboro. It burned about an ounce of oil. Would be wise to change the spark plug I’m sure.

That bike was intended to be loaned to another team. So I was assessing it’s worthiness for race use. I used it for most sessions, but the clutch is badly slipping. I took it back home and made adjustments to the clutch, but I still don’t think it’s right. I will loan a different bike to the Beyond The Track team to ride. Based on this test today. That bike will also be a Kayo. It’s engine also smokes. But at least it doesn’t have a slipping clutch.

In this session, I had a very hard time getting past Nico with the slipping clutch. Well, the original video is well over an hour long. I cut out the sections where I was just riding with nobody in front of me so there’s not a whole lot left.

Nico was trying to find out how long a tank full of gas would last so he rode it from full to completely empty. He probably rode for an hour and a half total in the session. That certainly helped me with keeping up on the Benelli and on the Kayo. This is one of the longest sessions I’ve ever ridden on track. Even in a race. I typically only ride for 30 minutes in a race. It’s also worth noting that it was a nice day with some cloud cover and less than 80°. That makes it more pleasant to ride in for sure.
