La Planche des Belles Filles is the summit finish for stage 6 of this year’s Tour de France. It will be the fourth time in the last eight editions that the Vosges mountain will be used but this year race organisers have added a twist, which could well trip up many a GC contender.
Despite being just seven kilometres long, Planche des Belles Filles averages 8.7 per cent, with the steepest section of 24 per cent coming in the brand new additional kilometre at the summit of the climb.
It isn’t just the steepness that will trip up riders, as the final kilometre also has prolonged sections of gravel!
This stage may come early on in the race, but is one not to be missed!
