How to collect a stool sample

Описание: This English-language animation shows parents and health workers how to collect a stool sample in a less-developed setting and with low-literacy audiences. The animation is part of a suite of tools for African audiences (Somalia and Djibouti in EMR) designed to improve surveillance for acute flaccid paralysis (AFP), the main symptom of polio. In the context of AFP surveillance, two stool samples are collected from any child with AFP in order to rule out polio. Stool samples are also collected from the close playmates (contacts) of children with AFP, and sometimes from healthy children as a way to detect the presence of poliovirus in a community.
