They absorb four times more carbon than inland forests, provide livelihoods to millions, are nurseries for marine life, and our natural defence against storm surges, tsunamis, and rising seas. Yet humans are destroying mangroves at an alarming rate. We should protect mangroves for our own climate and food security.
