1. Reference ranges aren’t optimal ranges. Conventional reference ranges for thyroid are determined by highs and lows within the population, including health and unhealthy people. They don’t reflect what would be OPTIMAL for you to feel your best.
2. What’s common isn’t normal. It might be common to gain weight in your late 30s and early 40s, but doesn’t mean it’s normal. Again, your thyroid labs might look ‘normal,’ but it doesn’t mean your numbers are optimal for your goals.
3. What blood tests show often require further investigation and a lot of doctors leave you with dead ends. For example, when doctors only run TSH, they are missing a BIG part of the thyroid story. You really need to see HOW MUCH thyroid hormone your body is making and whether or not it’s being converted to its ACTIVE FORM. This is why you need a full thyroid panel.
