Koraput Villagers Protest Over Woman’s Death by 33KV Electric Wire

In Badashankha village, Lakshmipur, Koraput, villagers staged a protest after a tragic incident where a woman lost her life by coming into contact with a 33KV electric wire.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the deceased, identified as Saraswati Prepeka, went to collect fodder and accidentally touched the high-voltage wire. Despite efforts by her family, she could not be saved.

Angered by the incident, villagers held a sit-in protest, demanding compensation. They alleged that the 33KV electric wire was only 4 feet above the ground, which led to the accident. Residents have held the Electricity Department responsible for the negligence and called for immediate action.
