We are living through the most innovative era in human history.
Yet loneliness, anxiety, and disconnection are rising.
In “The Next Revolution Is Empathy,” Patrícia Santos Mestre challenges a powerful paradox: we are more technologically connected than ever, but increasingly emotionally distant.
Drawing from her childhood in a deeply human community and her professional experience in digital transformation, she argues that innovation without humanism is incomplete.
Through a practical framework based on three principles: clarity, confidence, and competence. She shows that empathy is not a soft skill. It is a learnable capability and the foundation of sustainable innovation.
Technology connects systems.
Humanism connects people.
And the future of innovation depends on both. Patrícia Santos Mestre is a Partner Marketing leader at Microsoft for the EMEA region and former Chief Marketing Officer at Microsoft Portugal, where she led large-scale initiatives in digital transformation, branding, and innovation. Named one of the Top 100 Global CMOs by HotTopics in 2024, she is known for aligning purpose, strategy, and execution with clarity and impact.
Beyond her corporate role, Patrícia teaches Organizational Behavior at Nova IMS, challenging students to see empathy, conscious leadership, and culture as core to any digital transformation. As a martech keynote speaker, she is passionate about using technology and data to create meaningful, human experiences. A mother of two, she advocates for a kind, courageous style of leadership that connects performance with what truly makes us human: listening, purpose, and the willingness to question the status quo. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
