How My Community Sewed a Nation’s Style but Lost the Credit | Sadiya Adado | TEDxLagos

Описание: Before Lagos became synonymous with fashion, before African designs walked the runways of Paris and Milan, there was Fagge: a historic community in Kano, northern Nigeria. This is the hidden history of West Africa’s fashion capital

In this powerful talk, we are invited to rethink where innovation truly begins. Through the story of Fagge, Sadiya confronts a bigger global truth: the industries we celebrate are often built by communities the world overlooks. Sadiya Adado is a Nigerian Structural engineer, born and raised in Kano state, a climate justice activist, and a global leader passionate about amplifying the untold stories of marginalised people. As the founder of United Youth for Environmental Sustainability (U-YES), she uses storytelling and creative approaches to bridge awareness and action, ensuring that the voices and issues of the underserved reach the global stage, while bringing global awareness back to the grassroots. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
