This video about Mothering Styles in Childhood within Attachment Theory, and is the first of a six part series of "Mental Health Labs" called "WHO AM I REALLY?"
As a psychologist, I spend so much of my time talking about how our childhoods, adolescence and life experiences impact how we love, who we love, what we expect and how we engage in relationships, with ourselves and others.
The first module aims to explore how your childhood and Attachment Style were developed, as a result of the mothering or primary caregiving you received, and how this lays the groundwork for how you come to see yourself in the world.
An explanation of Attachment and Parenting Style in terms of caregiving is provided, along with some hands on, self led exercises you can do in a journal or with someone else to explore the mothering patterns in your childhood.
The second module will focus on how this mothering (or primary caregiving) dynamic and childhood, impacts how we come to label ourselves (smart, stupid, lovable, worthless, broken...etc) and how we translate that into positive or negative MISSION STATEMENTS for our lives, along with more self help and self led exercises you can use to help you know, heal and love yourself and your relationships more and come to accept WHO YOU TRULY ARE, in all your beauty and in all your pain.
You can do this lab alone, or consider taking it to your therapist or just sharing with someone you love to enhance your life, your parenting, your sense of self and/or your relationships.
