This Mindfulness Meditation is helpful for noticing how to bring ourselves into the present. It provides a guided way to practice noticing our thoughts, feelings and sensations. Perhaps it will allow you to see that thoughts are just thoughts. Thoughts are only one "part" of who we are. But there is a very important part of us, the "observing part", that helps us to stay mindful and present. This video also intends to help you connect with the parts of you that are motivated to take change. You can change how you think about your current situation by letting the unhelpful thoughts subside. You are fine just as you are, when you are in the present moment. When you are in the present, there can be no worrisome catastrophic thoughts about the future. When you are in the present, there can be no painful ruminations about the past. To be present is to live and not allow thoughts that are unhelpful to take over. To be mindful is to notice if your thoughts are helpful, or not. Are they helping you be the person you are? The person that lives deep within your heart?
This video is based on the work of Dr. Russ Harris, and follows a type of therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I value this therapy as a means of helping people to stay present.
