Описание: Presidential contender Uhuru Kenyatta and his running mate William Ruto will not be exempted from ICC trials, even if they clinch the top seat next month. The International Criminal Court's outreach coordinator Maria Kamara reiterated that the Rome Statute does not have a provision for immunity for sitting presidents, cabinet ministers or political leaders, and that Kenyatta and Ruto will have to be physically present at the Hague court, when their trial begins on 10th and 11th April. Kamara insisted that the post election violence cases were still intact, despite one of the star witnesses recanting his evidence that was used to nail Kenyatta and former head of civil service, Ambassador Francis Muthaura during the pre-trial hearings.
