Описание: Members of parliament last evening unanimously adopted a motion seeking to withdraw Kenya from the Rome statute, which created the international criminal court. During the debate sponsored by Chepalungu mp Isaac Ruto, legislators launched a scathing attack on the ICC and its prosecutor Luis Moreno - Ocampo. While expressing their solidarity with the 6 individuals named by Ocampo, and who are suspected to bear the greatest responsibility for the post election violence, mps claimed that the process had already been politicized, and could not result in a fair trial. Gichugu mp Martha Karua was the lone ranger in the debate, in disagreeing with her colleagues, terming it as a sad day for Kenya.
