A cheeky weekend splashing around in the Lake District | Kayaking Wast Water & Crummock Water

Описание: Sunshine AND a free weekend...Kayaking in the Lakes was the obvious answer to that little problem!

Our first stop off was the stunning Wast Water, the deepest lake in England, residing in Wasdale, to the west of the National Park, the lake sits afoot Scarfell Pike and takes in the magical views of Yewbarrow, Great Gable and Lingmell.

We did contemplate heading up Scarfell again, but a lazy chilled day bobbing about on the water won out, the views we were treated too were just stunning.

After a few hours on the kayaks we headed back to the van, fired up the grill to cook up some homemade beetroot burgers and fry up some halloumi, before enjoying a couple of beers and turning in for the evenings van camp.

After quaffing all the coffee the next morning we headed over to Crummock Water, which is only 2.5 miles long and less than 1 mile wide. The water here was like glass, giving some amazingly easy paddling, and once on the water, away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds.

After stepping up to the challenge of Kayak Chicken, predictably, Claire on her little Scooter Perception Kayak took a dunk!

As always the beer stop was on the cards, and treated us to a Pavlova Pastry Sour craft beer by Brew By Numbers.

A small lake, but with plenty to offer and some really interesting options for a cheeky little wild camp, it’s always nice exploring these places for future potential trips!

It was then one last pub stop for half a shandy and some dinner before we headed back home to plan out the next adventure.
