I mean it floats, so that’s always a good sign!
The sun was shining, skies were blue, so thought it would be a good shout to get the new kayak wet and have a bit of a test run on the River Trent before it’s official maiden voyage.
The water was amazingly still and easy to cut through, the Werner paddle that has served me so well over the years is definitely something I didn’t want to part with, it’s amazing how you form attachments to decent bits of kit you can rely on.
There is just something about being on the water, the mindfulness and slower pace of life and different perspective you get that makes me love kayaking so much. The damselflies, dragonfly's, kingfishers, herons and schools of fish were particularly stunning and prevalent on this stretch of the river at this time of the year.
I’m definitely looking forward to getting this out on the water in Wales in the next few weeks!
