7th March 2025. • Rathlin rarities • Rathlin breeding birds and migrants We first saw this female Ring-necked Duck on 3rd March, joining the Tufted Ducks on Craigmacagan Lough. It seems to have settled in and was still present this morning (12th March), despite having had a run-in with some boisterous Greylag Geese. This is the first time the species has been recorded on Rathlin, and having long been anticipated as a potential addition to the island's bird list, it's good to see one finally find its way here.
