There are 4 madhabs that are known to us today - Maliki, Hanafi, Hanbali and Shafi’i. Do we have to choose a specific madhab to follow completely, or can we pick and choose?
If a person chooses to follow a certain madhab, there is nothing wrong with that choice. However, it is not allowed for a person to be extreme and dismiss other scholars. It is not allowed to believe that the truth is only one madhab and that it is haram to go outside of the madhab.
