The sauce contains a delicious range of ingredients such as honey, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar and more. This combination gives you a delightful teriyaki sauce that matches the beef perfectly.
You’re best to use a cheap cut of beef for this slow cooker dish. We will be cooking the meat for a long time, so it will be tender by the time you’re ready to eat. It will just melt in your mouth and still have that lovely flavor we all know and love with slow cooked beef.
I do this beef without any vegetables, but you’re able to add some if you want to. Just keep in mind that if you add vegetables such as broccoli, then you’re best to add them at the end. Otherwise, they will go mushy.

1kg (2.2 lb) rump steak, thickly sliced
1 tsp. garlic, crushed
1 tsp. ginger, crushed
½ cup honey
¼ cup soy sauce
¼ cup beef stock or water
¼ cup rice wine vinegar
¼ tsp. black pepper, ground
To Thicken
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 Tbsp. water
The sauce ingredients also work amazingly well with chicken so if you do not want to eat some beef then swap it out for chicken.
You can enjoy this dish on its own, but it does kind of need something to go with it. Some white rice is the perfect side to have with it, or you can try something like potato mash.
The leftovers are great for lunch or dinner the next day. They keep pretty well in the fridge or freezer. Just make sure you reheat the leftovers as they’re not that great cold.
