How hard is it hiking Mount Leconte in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park via the Alum Cave Trail? Is Myrtle point worth the extra mileage? Are the Cliff Tops worth the extra mileage? We hiked the spur trails to all of these, plus we spent some time exploring at the Leconte Lodge, Alum Cave Bluffs, and Arch Rock. This is arguably the best hike in the smoky mountain national park near Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Late winter hike / early spring. We hiked this on 3/9/2026 (early March, the morning of daylight saving time). Best hikes in the Smokies!
