Justine McNally, whose son was stuck at school in Queensland, feared she would not see him for Christmas due to the state’s strict borders.
Justine’s son Henry boards at a school in the Queensland city of Toowoomba, and lives in the New South Wales town of Pallamallawa.
“We just fell out of the border bubble by about 10 kilometres,” Ms McNally told Sky News.
“So we were just going to end up with poor Hen' sitting back up at school whilst the rest of his cohort actually came back into the border bubble,” she said.
“It was a fairly stressful time over the last couple of weeks.”
Queensland Health recently granted exemptions for boarders needing to cross into New South Wales, meaning hundreds of kids will be reunited with their parents.
