Trains and cinema have in common that they are collective means of travelling and perceiving. Combining cinema with the train is therefore an obvious step. Inspired by the Russian Cine Train movement of the 1920s, the Cinema Train reactivates a compelling idea: using travel time to watch a film.
On the Cinema Train, passengers would book a cinema ticket together with their seat reservation for a special screening. The train would be equipped with a high-quality projector, Dolby sound, and tinted windows. This would allow passengers to enjoy films collectively during the journey. Imagine travelling from Frankfurt to the Berlinale Film Festival while watching a film.
Similarly, a karaoke train, concert train, cooking train, party train, or gaming train could be developed.
