Walkthrough Of Gourdon Aberdeenshire.

Описание: Hi folks followers lovers of all things auld and interesting.This week were taking a slow walk in and around the lovely wee fishing village of 'Gourdon' here on the east coast of aberdeenshire scotland.
We're starting off near the harbour and along the way you will see what I can only say is a memorable wee haven.Standing at the harbour in the sun smelling the fine fresh aroma of freshly battered fish while the visitors and villagers enjoy there meal I could also see a chip shop 'chipper' right beside it.A real bonnie relaxing spot with plenty of seats for the public all around the harbour.
There is still alot of fishing going on here in the village evident by the many hundreds of nets creels and wee fishing boats in and around the harbour.A fine 'Free' book store on the harbour front aswell as a very interesting museum holding a very interesting life boat which saved many life's from the cold east coast waters.The harbour itself as stated in the history books was constructed in 1820 by the world renowned Thomas Telford.A major herring industry flourished aswell as exporting goods such as coal and lime.Britians very last operational Flax spinning to operate (Selbie Works)finally closed in 1977.
This like many is a real wee belter as far as villages go.With warm welcoming locals to stunning food and views to match,you can really feel the fishing community spirit while gazing over the cold murky waters of the east coast.
