Описание: A visible recumbent stonecircle nestled aloft the summit of 'Parkhouse' Hill near Old Deer Aberdeenshire.As you park up beside the house beside the sign for this site you are automatically hit by a feeling of tranquility,as you amble up the gentle path you find yourself taking constant 360'turns taking in the beauty at this lunar site.
As stated on record the recumbent stone itself comes in at a graceful 20.5tonnes.There are as you can see around ten stones and a number of visible stones in amongst the large stones.There are two differences in the stones material where in the recumbent and western flanker are of 'Whinstone' while the rest are of granite.Carbon dates on Aikey Brae saying late bronze age so around 4000 years old.
Back in 2001 forty three items of worked stone including some flint scrapers and quartz flakes were discovered.Great pieces of history.
There has in past years been tree felling occur around this site and in this case it has opened the circle up to great panoramic views of the surrounding area.
