#USAF #WC135W, also known as the 'Nuke Sniffer' performs a number of touch and go's at its RAF #Mildenhall base in #Suffolk, United Kingdom. On this particular touch and go, the pilot initiated strong rudder actions to stabilise the jet ready for continuing with the #takeoff.
The #WC135, registration, #61-2667 is a special-purpose military jet derived from the #Boeing 707 and is operated by the United States Air Force.
Its mission is to collect samples from the atmosphere for the purpose of detecting and identifying nuclear explosions and therefore operates as a 'Nuclear Sniffer' aircraft searching for the presence of #nuclear matter in the event of a nuclear explosion.
This particular jet is over 50 years old and is powered by Pratt and #Whitney #JT3D #Turbofan engines.
