Welcome to this Reinforced Concrete Design tutorial, where we work step by step through an example of Vertical Shear using Eurocode 2.
This tutorial complements the accompanying lecture series and demonstrates how to apply the EC2 shear design procedure in practice, from calculating design shear forces to detailing shear links and their extent along the beam.
📌 In this tutorial, we:
✅ Present a summary shear design procedure for EC2 vertical shear
✅ Calculate the design shear force and reduced shear at a distance d from the support
✅ Check limiting conditions to prevent concrete crushing in shear
✅ Determine the shear resistance without links
✅ Check when minimum shear reinforcement is sufficient
✅ Design shear links using Eurocode 2 equations
✅ Define the spacing and extent of shear reinforcement along the beam
