Project Description:
Over the past decade, many public companies have become increasingly transparent about their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives to signal corporate values and attract investors. Yet, the role of voluntary ESG disclosure in the long-term success of firms remains relatively unexplored. To address this gap, this study investigates the relationship between ESG disclosures before an Initial Public Offering (IPO) and post-IPO financial performance. Using text analysis and ESG data, we evaluate whether these disclosure patterns correspond to measurable differences in long-term financial outcomes. Additionally, by segmenting companies by industry and firm characteristics, this research examines which types of businesses may benefit most from early ESG transparency. The findings provide investors with a framework for evaluating sustainability signals in IPO filings and equip firms with strategic insights into the timing and emphasis of ESG disclosures.
