The Great Divide Trail, Section A - Day 9 - Lynx Creek to Coleman

Описание: Saving the best for last, Day 9 saw us hiking 30kms from Lynx Creek to Coleman, traversing along the amazing Willoughby Ridge. This was by far, for me, the most spectacular day on trail. The views were amazing, the Ridgeline was never ending and gave me a small taste of what I imagine the PCT to be like.

Not only did I enjoy this day for its beauty, but also for the challenge of it. We left our tents and sleeping bags with my brother, leaving us with no choice but to complete the last 30kms of trail in that one day. 30kms would be both our longest day on trail yet, and I really wanted to see if I could do it! The terrain was hard and rocky for most of the day. By 15km in my feet hurt, by 20km in they were burning. But the rest of me felt pretty good, so after finding a creek to cool them off in, it was just a matter of getting it done! I love a challenge, I love setting goals for myself and once set, I am not that easy to quit.
With that mind set, we pushed on and before we knew it, we had accomplished our longest day on trail yet! We had done it! Not only had we completed our strange on again/off again journey of Section A of the GDT but we had also completed our longest days on trail.
To say we were super proud of our selves was an understatement.

This journey proved to us that we have the capability to adapt on the fly. We have the tenacity to keep going when it hurts. We have the ability to see beauty in the climb and not get bogged down in the exhaustion and pain.

This journey was to help prepare us for our next big adventure, the Pacific Crest Trail, and I think It did so and more.

I have been very blessed with my friendship in Barb, and having her as my ultimate backpacking partner...she is the only who is crazy enough to do these big things with me, and without her, my world would be much smaller. Thank you Barb, for this adventure, all our other past adventures and our epic one about to start!
