wood turning projects from firewood

Описание: I'm not sure if it fell off the truck or it jumped.
This woodturning video a wood turning project with a piece of firewood. I found this on the side of a dirt road up in the woods. someone cut it into firewood length. Looks like it fell off the truck...or maybe it jumped. I don't know what kind of wood but it was very hard. Turning it on the lathe was a bit of a challenge but I think it turned out pretty good. I made it a natural rimmed vase and tried to leave as much nature as I could. I coated the natural parts with shellac and finished the rest with friction polish.
