The Dolakha Bhimsen Temple is a significant Hindu temple located in the Bhimeshwar municipality of Dolakha District in Nepal, approximately 4.5 km (2.8 mi) east of Charikot.
The temple is dedicated to Bhimsen, also known as Bhindyo in the Newar community, who is worshipped as the god of trade, commerce, and fortune.
The temple is roofless in the center and houses a triangular-shaped stone idol of Bhindyo, which is believed to resemble three deities: Bhimeshwar in the morning, Mahadeva throughout the day, and Narayana in the evening.
The temple attracts around 5,000 worshippers every week, and local beliefs suggest that the idol sweats if the country faces any crisis.
The temple is also associated with the legendary hero Bhimsen, who is said to have spent his 12 years of exile in Dolakha.
Dolakha District, where the temple is located, is part of the Bagmati Province and has a rich cultural and religious heritage. The district's capital, Charikot, is home to the Dolakha Bhimeshawor Temple, which is one of the most popular temples in the region.
The temple's significance is further highlighted by the local legend that 12 porters once discovered the idol after an incident involving a triangular-shaped black-stone.
The Dolakha Bhimsen Temple is a key attraction for pilgrims and tourists, and it is often included in pilgrimage tours from Kathmandu, which take about 5 hours by bus.
The temple's unique architecture and religious significance make it an important site for the Newar community and the broader Nepalese population.
