In this video, Dr. Ben Glass shares a follow along video to practice the lunge decompression on your own. This is a reinforcement of hip extension and an upward force of your body through this important movement including basic mental cues and visuals to focus on so you can perform a Lunge Decompression the right way every time.
The lunge decompression brings your hip flexor group (psoas muscle) into a lengthened position which needs to be held for over a minute to offset the tension built from sitting. Practice feeling how the lengthening can be connected from ribcage to the hip and down the leg.
This movement was developed by the Foundation Training team made up Chiropractors and movement experts who understand the importance of guiding people through motion in a safe way when they are healing from an injury, stiff from a long day of sitting and even for performance athletes who need to actively recover and strengthen up their body mechanics to train for efficient movement.
