Описание: Let's take an inside look at Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai, China (or Giga Shanghai). Following the construction of Gigafactory 1 in Nevada and Gigafactory 2 in New York, Tesla made the bold move to build a Gigafactory in China, the largest car market in the world.

Tesla secured the site for 973 million Chinese Yuan and the total cost of construction is estimated to be at least $2 billion, but perhaps could rise to as high as $5 billion. Coined by Elon Musk as the “template for future growth”, Tesla began construction on Giga Shanghai in January 2019, and completed the initial phase of construction on the massive Gigafactory in only 10 months in October 2019, a massive feat of construction and engineering.

Located just a 90 minutes’ drive from Shanghai City Center, Gigafactory 3 is a massive factory where Tesla performs the final assembly on its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. It has helped Tesla achieve its target of delivering half a million vehicles worldwide in 2020. While Tesla has also been able to develop a healthy working relationship with the local as well as the National government in China, with local Chinese EV competitors like NIO, Li Auto and Xpeng quickly ramping up their production and winning the confidence of Chinese consumers, Tesla could face tough competition in China in the near future. It will be interesting to see if a local competitor is able to defeat Tesla in the Chinese market.
