VIDEO TRANSCRIPT
It can be a challenge for a parent to be able to partner up with a schoolteacher in order to be able to help your child at home with schoolwork. And one of the things that has been very successful, and has been shown in research to really change the outcomes or the performance of your child is these things called “daily report cards”.
And what they are is they’re a communication piece that goes back and forth between the teacher, and the parent at home. And usually what these report cards do is they identify one thing that the teacher and the parent agree upon to be able to work together to improve in the child. And so what happens, the teacher may teach something at school and then the parent will reinforce that through homework at home. But the report card becomes a kind of a daily dialogue that goes back and forth, and the role that the child is simply to deliver that report card back and forth, and the parent will write down what they've done or check off what they've been asked to do they'll sign off on it then send it back to the teacher and the teacher will then review it maybe write a bit about what they're doing that day and what they like their this student the child of the parent to do at home and send that home with the homework but that that dialogue sets up a partnership and that partnership has been shown to be very successful in improving the outcomes of students with ADHD or students we just have you know poor attentional skills
