Guess it's karma for working on the discussion video. Poppy was so kind as to arrive on the exact day the Steel/Fairy stages were leaving, so she ruined my Sunday evening plans. Riveting.
Poppy's playstyle can be likened to 2-turn damage dealers like SS N and SC Barry. Generally speaking Poppy is easier to pilot because Gigaton Hammer's unlocking conditional is merely interacting with Poppy's other moves. I guess Poppy is the most consistent Steel-type Striker right now, but she feels about equal to Rose to me. My thoughts in detail are in the discussion video if you missed it: • Sync Pair Discussion: Poppy & Tinkaton | P...
This could've been a non-EX video but I wanted to unlock Poppy's theme. Honestly I don't really care about this kid, so I'm leaving Poppy at 1/5. I'm making the showcase so you can see how she does.

[0:43] - Basic On-Type
Poppy is an autonomous Striker so you can pair her with a couple enhancers and go to town. Poppy's Trainer Move buffs +6 Atk, adds +1 PMUN and Free Move Next, so it sets-up a really funny Turn 2 Gigaton Hammer denial. 1/5 Poppy is completely devoid of gauge tools, but since I favor fast clears I didn't feel starved for gauge.
I ran Wikstrom as my tank because he activates Tech Steel + Elite Four Theme Skills and he allowed me to pick the Support Damage x3 option. With those corrections the leftmon denial was much cleaner to achieve than with Jasmine. This sequence should work for non-EX Poppy because there are enough turns for an extra Gigaton Hammer. You could say the rightmon denial is a waste when Poppy's sync move deletes the sidemons, but the nuke denial is only achievable at -6 Def. You want Colress or another aggressive Def debuffer for that: • colress picking up pedagogy
[2:40] - MUN Stacking
Gigaton Hammer has 450BP at 1/5. Poppy draws much more value from MUN than any other pair because a 40% damage increase out of 450BP is a LOT of extra power. Increments boost Poppy exponentially.
MUN feeds into Gigaton Hammer so well that Poppy draws more power from continous MUN stackers than from Steel Zone depending on lineup. NC Rosa + NC Nate is an enhancing combo I've been promoting since their launch. I tried optimizing some points with Half Ally HP and Five Stats Down (to boost one of Nate's passives), but sometimes keeping it simple works best. I also have an on-type recording with Geeta. Poppy effortlessly breaks the old damage cap in 3 turns: • me when i lobby for child labor
[4:44] - Play Rough
Play Rough is, obviously, much less impressive than Gigaton Hammer. It's mostly there to keep Poppy's damage ceiling in check.
I specifically wanted to highlight the Poppy + Palentine's Serena combo. Serena rapidly spreads Paralysis, so 3/5 Poppy gets to abuse Play Rough Paralysis Synergy 5 right away. I can't do that of course, but it's a nice way of proccing Poppy's personal Lucky Skill - it's Defense Crush 9 against Paralyzed foes. Poppy's personal Lucky Skill is not groundbreaking as she'd rather run Critical Strike 2, but I'm trying to be thorough. Volo enables Serena while granting PMUN stacks to Poppy. 1/5 Poppy wants Acc raises for Play Rough by the way. I didn't let Poppy handle any delicate denials.
[6:42] - Paralysis Support
Poppy gets to compress Paralysis + Def drops so she is a decent enabler for physical Static Shock nukes. Beneficiaries include Marnie, Nemona and Thunderbolt Red. Poppy is better than Colress or Tech Parasect because you get Gigaton Hammer off-turns. Poppy could also enable Static Shock Variety Thorton I guess.
[8:48] - Fast Bonk
I wasn't certain on how to handle the Steel Zone clear. I was missing a "cheap" clear, but the thing about 1/5 Poppy is that Solgaleo outscales her nuke: • speedy entry 2 do be goated
I felt I wasn't capitalizing on Poppy or Marnie's kits to their fullest, soooo ramp it is. Poppy sets-up so quickly that she CAN clear at an excellent pace, but her kit doesn't contribute to ramps beyond Sprint EX + Adrenaline 1. Poppy is more of a ramp abuser, but it's easy to ramp for Poppy when Palentine's Marnie and SC Selene have Head Start 1. SS Dawn can perform a post-sync kamikaze to deny Grimsley's 2nd turn, but there's no point with Damage Guard Next active - actually an early kamikaze can be dangerous if Marnie misses the sync crit because Poppy's gauge will be in the trenches.
