6*EXR 3/5 NC Cheren & Tornadus at 3000pts Champion Stadium | Pokémon Masters EX

Описание: Originally I planned to leave NC Cheren at 1/5 because much of his appeal is numbers. I could make decent DPS clears at base. After my pull session that wasn't a decision for me to make evidently. I went with full investment out of spite, much like Adaman, and there is no stronger fuel than that.

After all the clears I recorded my honest verdict is: I'm not impressed with NC Cheren. Sorryyyyy. By the numbers he is comparable to NC Red. Cool! It's more so that his clunky rotations don't absolve his lackluster utilities. You'd figure NC Cheren outperforms NC Bianca on CS, but her set-up demands and team compositions are much more fluid. NC Cheren doesn't carry Flying-types hard enough to make them "meta" either. He is not doing something other top meta damage dealers don't already do. Standards are very high.

Idk, I'm having a hard time unraveling the bologna of thoughts I'm packing under YouTube's character limit. NC Cheren is not as clear-cut broken as Thunderbolt Red, SS Gladion, etc. to me. NC Cheren is the best Flying-type damage option at current duh, so I made him look as good as possible. It'd be disingenuous to deny he made me work harder than I normally do though. Are Flying-types at large to blame? I could have drawn from stronger pairs to make more clears, but Cheren should elevate HIS archetype first and foremost.

[1:24] - Basic Team
Cheren has a couple rules: he adds Rebuffs by Turn 2, and the more PMUN stacks the better. 3/5 Cheren reasonably advances Cakewalk by B Bleakwind Storm intervals, but when looking for efficiency Cheren wants help dropping Spe.

If I were playing 1/5 Cheren I'd probably run OG Skyla and Lodge Skyla as a cohesive core, but 3/5 Cheren can play for point optimization to make the clear easier. The mark of a good Striker is carrying dogwater pairs. BP Falkner's Str reduction contributes far more than whatever Lodge Skyla could muster.

[3:31] - Solo
For as much flak as I'm giving Cheren he deletes on-type whoop-de-doo. I like the TM Durable into Fly sequence because it allows play into high pressure options. Tangentially related: Cheren's personal Lucky Skill is Strong Start 1. It plays for early PMUN multipliers, but CS2 is always superior UNLESS you end the fight in two attacks. Honestly you are better off sparing the Lucky Skill slot.

[4:32] - Nuke Optimization
NC Cheren uniquely requires -4 Spe and +6 PMUN to complete a 1st cycle nuke. Anniversary Skyla cannot contribute to either, so this limits the list of enablers to SC Steven and SS Acerola (Tripping Strike). It's not every day SC Steven is an optimal pick for Special damage dealers. There are fun synergies at play, such as Cheren unlocking B Leer to skip Steven's Tackle turn.

[6:32] - Utility
Cheren's niches are hyper-specific. Cheren grants Unova Spirit increments, Spe drops, Acc drops, Confusion and some front-line. Ghetsis appreciates early Spe drops so that's the direction I took. Did you know Ghetsis' TM raises more Sp.Atk the lower his health is? Third was tricky, but I landed on SS Hilbert for Sp.Def drops and Ice Rebuffs. Ideally you'd run Super Slowering Hit to complete Ghetsis' Cakewalk, but that's a 4/5 tile and I already candied Hilbert just for this clear. Oh, if Cheren uses Fly pre-sync he wants some means of sync countdown, so I ran the HS1 Lucky Skill because I wanted to cram as many utilities as I could. There sure wouldn't be enough room for those later.

[8:27] - Kamikaze Nuking
Cheren is a bit like NC Red in that his full nuke is stunted by the rules of his kit. Cheren adds Rebuffs by Turn 2 and his innate sync multiplier is Rebuff based, so he NEEDS some Rebuff going to attempt a nuke denial. You may consider Rebuff rampers like NC Leaf, Adaman or Oleana, but a kamikaze turn stall is also fair game. This is the one time I can pretend kamikaze Shauntal is relevant for regional increments.

[10:29] - Fast Denial
Cheren's bursts allow quick denials, but it is supremely annoying how he cannot capitalize from his Flying Rebuff until then. I could've gone with Proton, but you always have to think about the PMUN angle when playing Cheren. It's counterintuitive. This clear solidified Cheren's mediocrity to me because I had to run +6E and Skill Gear to barely reach the denial. "Just run better Supports." No, he shouldn't need to.

[12:16] - Ramping
I've been running Cheren's 3/5 HS1 in most of these clears, but he can certainly play for dedicated ramps. His most ideal ramp enabler is NC Bianca, but SS Elesa is a fine substitute as she happens to be Unovan too. 1/5 Cheren wants Sp.Atk raises so it's worth considering.

[14:08] - Fly Gaming
Unova do be packing Master Fairs. Cheren is not meant to use Fly as he prefers to conserve his PMUN multipliers, but it can do numbers.
