We are in the finishing stages of getting our baseboards installed. Had to make a decision on whether to miter the inside corners, butt joint them, or use corner blocks. Ultimately we decided that the blocks are the best, and, save a lot of time. Here's some shop time and pictures to give you some ideas on how this turns out. Details about our trim:
KNOTTY ALDER MOULDING cutom milled by PMC Mouldings, Franklin Park, IL.
Baseboards: 5/8 thick, 5-1/2" wide
Corner Blocks: 1-1/16" x 1x1-1/16" square, 6 " tall
Window/Door Headers: 1-1/16" thick (5/4), 3-1/2 wide
Window/Door Header Topper: 1-1/2" wide x 3/4" thick (1x2)
Window/Door Base and Legs: 3-1/2" widex3/4" thick (1x4)
Installed using a Dewalt 18g nail gun, 2" nails
Finish:
Barnwood Brown Minwax Colorwash
Minwax Polycrylic Clear Satin
