This vlog is all about Day 1 – Embarkation Sunday in beautiful Bridgetown, Barbados. 🇧🇧

✈️ Our Journey Begins: Blackpool to Barbados
Our day started with a taxi ride from our hometown, Blackpool, to Manchester Airport. 🚕 We treated ourselves to the 1903 Lounge in Terminal 2 (thanks to a cheeky discount code from the airport’s newsletter – always worth signing up!). At £42 per person, we were expecting premium food, but honestly, it was a bit disappointing. 😕 However, the unlimited Champagne 🥂 was a highlight!

After a relaxing couple of hours, it was time to board our TUI Airways Dreamliner (Boeing 787) for the flight to Barbados. ✈️ To make our journey special, I surprised Gemma with pre-ordered Champagne and chocolates – a little luxury at 35,000 feet! 🍫🍾 Sadly, my in-flight entertainment system wasn’t working 😩, but I was lucky to have pre-downloaded some movies on my iPad. Big tip: Always bring your own entertainment just in case! 🎬

🚢 Embarkation in Bridgetown, Barbados
Arriving in Barbados was an adventure in itself! 🌞 Stepping off the plane and onto the tarmac felt like a scene from a movie. 🎥 We boarded buses straight to the Bridgetown cruise terminal, where Marella’s seamless check-in process made everything stress-free. Within 35 minutes, we were onboard the Marella Voyager, ready to start our Tropical Delights itinerary! 🌴

🏠 Cabin 8147: Our Home at Sea
We were assigned an inside cabin on Deck 8 (midship) – perfect for Gemma, who’s prone to seasickness. 🌊 The cabin was cozy, but we did feel it could’ve used better lighting. 💡 A big plus: The premium all-inclusive drinks package we’d upgraded to online – definitely worth it for the strong coffee ☕ and premium spirits!

🌮 Dinner at Abuela (Deck 11)
Our first dinner onboard was at Abuela, the Mexican restaurant, which offers complimentary dining with a few premium options. We couldn’t resist the:

Guacamole 🥑 (made fresh at the table).
Pork Carnitas Sharer 🍖, a deliciously tender dish from Mexico’s Michoacán region.
Both dishes had a small surcharge, but they were worth every penny! 💰 We highly recommend them for a flavourful start to your cruise.

✨ Evening Vibes on Deck 12
After dinner, we explored the ship a little before heading to Deck 12, where the pool area was quiet and serene. 🌌 Exhausted from our travels, we decided to call it an early night – tomorrow’s adventure in Castries, St. Lucia awaits, featuring an exciting catamaran tour to the Pitons! 🏔️

Bridgetown is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its historic Garrison area. 🏰
The island’s warm and welcoming locals call themselves “Bajans.” 😊
The Bridgetown port is a gateway to some of the Caribbean’s most picturesque islands. 🏝️
