Описание: Testing a 12’ Expandacraft outrigger on a 16’ prospector style canoe. Solway Dory 35 Bermuda rig. I built the leeboard and its bracket myself but copied the SD design. The yoke is custom made by me out of ash and so is the mast step. I wanted to test the paddle capability of only having a port side outrigger. I found it to paddle nearly as well as the canoe itself. Sailing performance was excellent. Steering with the paddle worked well and I tested it lashed to the cross bars and it can be used like a Polynesian paddle rudder, worked great actually. Paddle strokes can be made inside the cross bars with a slight long modified exit or use an Indian stroke to recover the blade. On the starboard side there wasn’t any need to change my stroke except where I still have to cut my cross tube back about an inch it was hanging over but that is a quick fix in the shop.
