Oil Painting Tip - Paint Fallen Leaves Easier and Quicker. Oil Paint Fallen Leaves Easier and Quicker. Want some tips to paint fallen leaves (or anything else) easier and quicker? Are you struggling to paint a landscape with fallen leaves? Does it seem to take forever to paint all those little objects?
I will show you how NOT to oil paint fallen leaves with lots of tiny details by showing you the techniques and principles I use to simplify painting leaves that have fallen to the ground. This video is all about taking a foreground filled with a crazy amount of objects - like thousands of fallen leaves - and simplifying the oil painting process.
Too often while painting plein air or in our studios from photos we get distracted by all the fun, small details like grasses, rocks or leaves. Learning to squint and reduce all those details into a few large shapes helps us to begin painting quickly and with confidence.
Once we block-in the larger shapes we can begin to work into those large shapes with smaller shapes of color and value to add interest and realism to our oil paintings.
