About the Speaker
PhD in Philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Assistant Researcher at CONICET (National Council for Scientific and Technological Research) and assistant professor at the University of Buenos Aires. Moira is currently a Fellow at the Forschungsinstitut für Philosophie Hannover (fiph), Germany, and was a Post-doctoral Fulbright scholar 2016-2017 at New York University, post-doctoral CONICET scholar 2016-2018 at Universidad de Buenos Aires, and a Fellow at the 2019 ICSI Summer School (The New School, USA). She was also Visiting Professor at Université de Toulouse Jean Jaurès (France, 2023), Hildesheim Universität (Germany, 2022 and 2023), the Catholic University of Chile (2021), and Universidad de la República (Uruguay, 2017). She currently holds teaching positions at UBA (Department of Philosophy) and the National University of Tres de Febrero (M.A. in Gender Studies and Politics), she directs the research group on Applied Philosophy and Queer Politics (@PolQueer), co-directs the Núcleo de Estudios Críticos y Filosofía del Presente (FFyL, UBA) and is part of the Scientific Committee of the Federal Network of Gender and Diversities at CONICET.
Her research brings together the fields of Practical Philosophy and queer and anti-colonial perspectives, to focus on the articulation between violence and identity. Current research interests are:
-epistemic violence, both working on the concept and on its practical applications, particularly in narratives about the past and in philosophical practice;
-institutional violence, mostly applying intersectional queer perspectives on criminology, anti-punitivism and prision abolition.
