Growing up, Dr. Khabiso Ramphoma saw how inaccessible oral health was for many. This inspired her shift from clinical dentistry to dental public health, eventually researching the critical shortage of healthcare workers in her home country. Today, as a senior lecturer at the University of the Western Cape and a voice in the World Federation of Public Health Associations, she advocates for equitable care and mentors' future leaders in health, using her community dentistry work to build the skills needed to tackle global health challenges.
Dr. Ramphoma is a fellow from the 2025 Women in Global Health Leadership Fellowship, a program designed to advance the leadership skills of talented African women who are passionate about gender equity in global health systems. It is co-designed and implemented by Moi University, University of Cape Town and University of Toronto under the Africa Health Collaborative, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.
