Week 4 of my @ironmantriathlon training is complete - recovery week in Base Phase 1.
After three solid weeks of building my aerobic base, this week dropped down to just 6 hours of total training. The goal: absorb the work, reduce fatigue and prepare for the next base phase.
I was away skiing for most of the week which added a fun endurance twist. I managed to get in a couple of easy treadmill runs to stay consistent and keep the Zone 2 engine ticking over.
The highlight of my week was Sunday's swim - 3100m, my longest swim of the new year.
Recovery weeks are a crucial part of any structured triathlon training plan, especially when training for an @ironmantriathlon. Fitness isn't built just through hard sessions - it's built through smart progression and proper recovery.
Base Phase 2 starts next week as we increase the muscular endurance sessions.
