Stream: Castlevania-inspired indie games pt1

Описание: I like Castlevania, but one area it could do better is female protagonists. That inspired me to find fan games, clones, or indie games that otherwise homage or take inspiration from Castlevania but have a heroine front and center. And this is some of what I found!

-Action 52 (1991/1993) for NES and Mega Drive. This infamous collection of laughably bad minigames on NES contains Haunted Hills/Halls, where a lady hunter of ghoulies throws crosses at suddenly-appearing ghosts and such. It's incredibly jank but I get through its three-level span. I also play through the equivalent game on the Mega Drive collection; even though its lead character is male it's a slightly better experience. While I'm in Action 52 land, I check out Bubbblegum Rosie and its fan remake by rdein, and a couple of others on the collections that caught my eye.

-Demon Burst (2019) for PC/Mac/Browser by Crowno. Made for the jam "A Game by its Cover", this is a short action game based on artwork by Philip Summers, a Castlevania/Kid Icarus/Ghosts 'n Goblins mashup homage that looks and plays great. Another Demon Burst game was entered in the same jam, made by crabowitz, and I played it too. It's a more Castlevania-esque action platforming experience but is very unfinished, with just one short level that runs out of graphic assets partway through. Still, what's there is cool! Made for the GMTK Jam 2020, this is a silly and cool little game where you explore a mazelike castle as a lady Dracula, catching naughty kittens to get your powers back. Very nice stuff!
