All softball players need an arm strengthening routine to stay healthy and throw harder over the course of their playing careers. These simple shoulder exercises can be done with dumbbells ranging from:
1-2lbs for ages 10-13
2-3lbs for 13-16
3-4lbs for 16 and up
2-3 sets of :60 or 12-20 reps is recommended
It's important to go slowly and not rush, and to err on the side of lighter weight that will better target the rotator cuff muscles. Remember that good preventative care for the throwing arm is also the best performance-enhancer as well.
