If you're lifting weights that are too light and too easy to do, you're never going to build muscle or get stronger. In order to get bigger and stronger, you have to lift weights that actually challenge your body and force you to work within a 4-12 rep range for at least 3 sets. The 4-12 rep range is the "sweet spot" for building muscle and strength - you get the best of both worlds in this range (lower reps = strength building / higher reps = muscle building / mix = both!)
As you become more experienced lifting weights, the weights you're currently lifting will get easier and easier to workout with, so in order to benefit from your workouts, you don't want to keep lifting the same amount of weights, but instead you want to use a training technique called "PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD" - where you gradually and continually increase the challenge of workouts - this can be done by increasing the weight you lift or by increasing the time under tension you're under through your reps and sets.
Weights and workouts should never be "easy" to do if you actually want the best results out of them - they should always be challenging - never let your workouts get too easy and you'll always benefit by getting stronger!
