640 16TH ST, EAST VILLAGE

San Diego Firefighters worked a 2 alarm commercial structure fire at 16th St & G St, which was originally called in as a trash fire but became more serious when in extended into the attic of the building.

Fire officials originally expected to put down the fire in about 2 hours, but the stubborn fire re-ignited several times, causing the firefighters to stay on the scene nearly 6 hours.

Coronado Fire responded to assist with the fire, and at one point nearly 70 firefighters were on scene. There were no known injuries, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
